WORK STILL TO BE DONE

As you can see from the photos below, there are still some big jobs ahead to reach the full potential of the community centre. If you have the time to spare, please click here to contact us. Whether it be a donation of your time, expertise, money of course is always welcome... but most of all, we want your opinions. This centre belongs to the community, and as part of that community, we want to hear what you have to say.

Ground floor rooms

Thanks to funding from the Town and Villages grant scheme, the old snooker room has been transformed into The "John McCormack Room" in a nod to the great Irish tenor who had donated the snooker table to the town. The snooker table is now safely stored until it can be restored to its former glory.  And the old meeting room (dumping ground) has been transformed into the "Paddy Donoher Room"  in remembrance of our late caretaker, committee member and friend. We are very proud at how these rooms turned out and they are already being used for a variety of different things. A huge amount of work was needed to bring these rooms to the high standard of today. The work was carried out by local builders Peter and Sean Earley of P & S Earley Construction. They really had their work cut out for them and they did an outstanding job.

Stage

Our stage continues to improve. Its not fully there yet, but massive steps have been taken. Still in the works are a refurbishment of the arch and the front of the stage to fit our new lightweight stairs. The pictures really dont do the work that has been done justice, so make sure you come along to a future event to see the change for yourself.

This stage has massive potential for both the centre and for the town. We already have had and will be having more acts performing on it. The sound of live music in the hall is simply amazing and this has only increased our determination to bring the stage to its full potential. The Monasterevin Drama Group will perform their first play this coming September. Hopefully the first of many local productions.

1st Floor function room

Unfortunately this room has a lot of damage. The roof will need to be replaced, and as you can see, there is quite a bit of internal work needed too. This is such a unique space that we still haven't fully decided how best to use it. There are a lot of options, and again, a lot of potential.

1st and 2nd floor meeting rooms

Definitely a part of the project that will be further into the future. Again the roof is a major issue, as well as windows and floors....and walls...and well lots of other things that we will have to set aside for now.

There are of course, many other jobs to be done in the hall. Smaller projects that will be done as funds become available. The main toilets are in need of modernising. A disabled toilet is needed. Storage areas are needed.

The hope is that we can self fund these jobs to some extent, or at least self fund raise with your help. We take lots of different forms of donation...money of course is always a good one, but your time and/or expertise could be invaluable. If you have any interest in helping us out, please let us know. You can contact us through the link above, on our facebook page, or simply approach one of the committee.
